This book was okay。 I think the other set of graphic novels about the babysitter club is better。 I know Karen is six, but she was just very unlikeable in this book。 I do love the illustrations though!

"Best book ever。 It was amazing。 It made me sad when she got mad at her friend。 My favorite part was when she finally got ice cream with her brothers。 I loved this book because Karen is happy at the end, but she is sad in the beginning。" - my 7 year old reading buddy "Best book ever。 It was amazing。 It made me sad when she got mad at her friend。 My favorite part was when she finally got ice cream with her brothers。 I loved this book because Karen is happy at the end, but she is sad in the beginning。" - my 7 year old reading buddy 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 I don’t MIND this book。 I do think the Karen in the BSC and BSLS are very different。 Karen does cause drama once and a while, I didn’t like when she confronted Hannie, she was just excited。 Of course everyone would feel a little left out but this was to much。 Karen’s behavior in this book was unacceptable and misleading。

Once Karen decides she is having a bad day, things just go from bad to worse。 While she wallows and even lashes out, her family is extremely supportive in trying to help her have a new perspective and look for good things in the day。 In the end, she apologizes to people that she yelled at and realizes that she should not take her frustration out on others。 I like that the apology is modeled for young readers。 I hope the message of choosing to be positive and find the joy in a day is strong enoug Once Karen decides she is having a bad day, things just go from bad to worse。 While she wallows and even lashes out, her family is extremely supportive in trying to help her have a new perspective and look for good things in the day。 In the end, she apologizes to people that she yelled at and realizes that she should not take her frustration out on others。 I like that the apology is modeled for young readers。 I hope the message of choosing to be positive and find the joy in a day is strong enough for kids to get。 。。。more

Great! I thought Karen felt like a real, little kid with some of her thinking。 She acts like a certified brat in this book, but these are all ways I've seen kids act out, especially when she gets mad Andrew gets a toy instead of her。 Great! Karen is the absolute worst。 But these graphic novels are truly charming!

Okay, so the artwork is nice and the story had a good message。 But I hate Karen。 She is such a brat, and these books just emphasize it more and more。 So, while I give the overall book a 4 star, I would probably give her character a 1 star。 My impression of her has not improved over time。 At all。

4。5/5 stars

I think the Baby-Sitters Little Sister Graphic Novel series just keeps getting better! Karen is still a little bit bratty but in this book it's slightly more understandable because of all the bad things that happen to her。 She also realizes pretty quickly that even though bad things are happening to her, she shouldn't be mean to those around her。 While a little less exciting than the other books in this series, I like this one the most because of the positive message。 Was it just me or did it se I think the Baby-Sitters Little Sister Graphic Novel series just keeps getting better! Maybe it's just the serial nature of the series, but I feel like there have been some missed opportunities to bring storylines full circle within each book。 It's been a million years since I read the chapter books, so I'm not sure how much leeway the adaptations have; maybe this is an issue that existed in the original books。 Either way, my daughter enjoyed reading the story and tells everyone she talks to about how Karen broke her arm roller skating。 :) I took the opportunity to point out some Maybe it's just the serial nature of the series, but I feel like there have been some missed opportunities to bring storylines full circle within each book。 It's been a million years since I read the chapter books, so I'm not sure how much leeway the adaptations have; maybe this is an issue that existed in the original books。 Either way, my daughter enjoyed reading the story and tells everyone she talks to about how Karen broke her arm roller skating。 :) I took the opportunity to point out some of the larger messages and we both enjoy the illustrations。 We're looking forward to #4 this summer! 。。。more

Natalie

Ok, that was super cute。 I loved how sweet Sam and Charlie were to Karen。

Another cute retelling done by Farina。 There's not much plot to it, but it warms my heart rereading them as an adult。 Another cute retelling done by Farina。 There's not much plot to it, but it warms my heart rereading them as an adult。 。。。more

I think I've just realized that the BSLS adaptations aren't doing it for me the way the BSC ones are。 Karen is so bratty it's not appealing to read at all。 I don't even know if I want to encourage my kids to read these because of her behavior。 I haven't read the source material in so long I couldn't say whether this is from the source or not。 But in a time when I would like to think we have evolved to not wanting to teach our kids to talk to their siblings and friends with such disdain, I don't I think I've just realized that the BSLS adaptations aren't doing it for me the way the BSC ones are。 Karen is so bratty it's not appealing to read at all。 I don't even know if I want to encourage my kids to read these because of her behavior。 I haven't read the source material in so long I couldn't say whether this is from the source or not。 But in a time when I would like to think we have evolved to not wanting to teach our kids to talk to their siblings and friends with such disdain, I don't think I will be continuing to pick up this series。 。。。more

Karen started her day off really bad and it just got worse from there。 She learns from there that things can get better if you look at things differently and keep a positive attitude。 Another cute story!

Melody

I liked that Karen started over her day and her day got better。

This book is not bad, but it's not as good as the first book in this series。 The main character (Karen) comes off as somewhat of a brat in this one。 The whole thing felt a bit too cheesy for my liking。 This book is not bad, but it's not as good as the first book in this series。 The main character (Karen) comes off as somewhat of a brat in this one。 The whole thing felt a bit too cheesy for my liking。 。。。more

I read these with my 6 and 4 year old and although we love the series, I think this one was a bit of downer。 So many bad things happened to Karen, it went on forever。

Karen's day started off bad--she fell out of bed after a bad dream and then couldn't find her sparkly new jeans。 But things just kept getting worse! She can't play with her friends because of her cast, the household pets keep running away from her, and even the ice cream truck is out of her favorite flavor。 And no matter what she does, nothing gets better--she ends up having 14 bad things happen to her in just one day! Oh boy。 A whole book of Karen being bratty and whiny as she catalogues her gripes about the day。 I was too worn down by the pessimism to care when things started to turn around for her。

Another cute entry in this series。I love how Farina draws the cat's expression, and the way Karen's older step-brothers helped turn her bad day around very sweet。 Another cute entry in this series。I love how Farina draws the cat's expression, and the way Karen's older step-brothers helped turn her bad day around very sweet。 。。。more
